Ecuador Property of the Week: Lueva Spa, Resort, Retreat Center
Tucked away on a quiet side street about a kilometer outside of Cotacachi is a 12 acre chunk of Ecuador real estate, a fully fenced property that captured our hearts the first time we saw it more than a year ago.
The vision began about 12 years ago, when an American woman with a PhD in psychology walked onto a cornfield, looked at the views, and said, “I’ll buy it. This is where I will build my dream.”
Her dream was to create a facility that would help people lose weight, find relief from the stress of everyday life, and generally provide people with a safe, comfortable place to regain psychological and physical health.
Lueva has matured into a wonderful facility, with 13 very large guest rooms, a yoga room, a meditation room, and three massage rooms, a large meeting room, library, offices, dining room for 45 people and a great kitchen.
In addition, the grounds have organic gardens, hundreds of fruit and avocado trees, black berry bushes, a eucalyptus forest and honey bees, not to mention a bunch of guinea pigs that provide fertilizer for the gardens. The recreation center has an indoor pool, a large hot tub sufficient for at least 10 people, saunas, and a Turkish bath.
Just outside the recreation center is a permanent sweat lodge and a fire ring for native American and shamanic ceremony
Lueva is fully equipped and extremely well maintained. The new owner could anticipate moving in and starting programs the next day.
Asking price for Lueva is $1.3 million. It is not being sold as a business. Someone with a good business plan could move in and begin operations in a short time. Lueva could be excellent for a retirement center and assisted care facility, a health spa, a fractional ownership resort, or any number of other possibilities.
